Open Ceramics Studio

Tuesdays, 4-8 p.m.

Beginning on April 1, 2025

Need a space to hand build or throw on the wheel?  Open studio is an opportunity to work fully independently on your pottery, unlike the pottery classes where an instructor is provided. You’ll have access to the studio equipment and tools.

How to Join:

  • Register on our portal using any registration button. At that time you will pay $75.  This will cover the materials costs (25 lbs. of clay and use of HCA glazes) and firing.

  • Come to open studio as it is convenient for you on Tuesdays between 4 and 8 PM, on a first-come basis each week. Cost of open studio is $15 for the first hour and $10 for each additional hour.  We won't charge you for studio time until you show up.

  • The art room is a shared space so plan time to clean up your area before leaving!

  • You must take unused clay with you, pieces in progress may stay on shelves.  Bring an appropriately sized container to transport it back and forth.

Teen After School Program

Holmes Center for the Arts offers a FREE after school program for teens on Thursdays after school until 6 PM.  NextGen ministries leads the first part of the program with snacks, a devotional, homework help, and games.  From 5 - 6 PM, students participate in an arts activity led by professional artists.  Some of the classes include painting, stained glass, woodworking, and more.  No need to register, but please contact us at info@holmescenterforthearts.org to let us know you are coming.  If you need transportation, we can help you with that too!

Open Studio:
Oil Painting

Saturday mornings at the arts center from 10 AM - 12 PM

All artists and aspiring artists are welcome to join us.  Artists will
need to bring their own oil painting supplies.  These are not lessons, but a time for us to inspire each other and share tips we have gleaned with one another.

We will collect $5 per session to cover the use of the studio. Feel free to invite friends to join us.  We plan to do this every Saturday, so come as often as you find convenient.
