Creative Writing Class

Write On: Inspirational/Devotional Writing

-- January 5, 12, 19, 26 -Tuesdays @ 6pm

Ages: 16 to Adults

Do you have a calling to share your ideas and revelations with others? One of the best ways to do this is through inspirational and devotional writing. In this class, we will explore the different ways we can communicate what has been put in our heart to share with others. Each student will choose one inspirational or devotional work to focus on while also working on their own project. Through workshops and the creation of a writing practice, we will write the stories we’re meant to tell.

$40 for the 4 week session.

Write On: Creative Nonfiction

-- February 2, 9, 16, 23-- Tuesdays @ 6pm - 7pm

Ages: 16 to Adults

Everyone has a story worth telling. The secret is to find the right way to tell it. This class isn’t about the essay we all learned to write in high school. It’s about focusing on our personal stories about the world, nature, our experiences, and more. Each student will  choose one creative nonfiction book to read during the month while creating their own essay. Through workshops and the creation of a writing practice, we will finally put the idea you’ve always had on paper.

$40 for the 4 week session.

Inspirational/Devotional Writing and Creative Nonfiction can be taken separately or together. If you sign up for both classes, your cost will be reduced to $75.  These classes can also take place virtually on Zoom for those who may need it.

Shakespeare

Writing --  March 17, 24, 31, and April 7, 14, 21, 28 -- Wednesdays @ 4:30 - 5:45pm

Ages: Middle School and High School

There is a reason why William Shakespeare’s works have stood the test of time. His plays can be performed in their original form or they can be redone in different time periods, different ways, with diverse and different characters. This class will take a look at several of Shakespeare’s works and adaptations other artists have done that were inspired by The Bard. Each student will work on their personal craft of writing by working on an adaptation of their own.

$55 for 6 weeks

This class will finish with a small performance on the evening of a date in late April TBA if students would like to participate.
